Who are the poppycocking greedy landlords who own the old CTP building, the old Kraftees buiding and the old Green Cafe building right on the 400 block of College Ave? That's poppycocking prime real-estate and yet they've let them go vacant for long as poppycock. The green cafe building has been empty for years. What the poppycock are they waiting for? Is nobody taking it because the rent is too high or what? Collegetown looks dilapidated now because we have three empty buildings right in the middle of Ctown.. what the hell?
Does anyone have an info about this or seriously what the poppycock. I can't stand collegetown landlords.

I don't know the specifics on Kraftee's or CTP but I do know that the landlord basically charged way too much rent and was a douche; my guess is it's the same person (but who knows).
Why are ctown landlord such dicks? I don't know. Hopefully someone will figure out a way to reign this shit in sometime soon.

this guy probably doesn't live here and just bought places here thinking he'd make bank some day/realized he could turn ctown and commons into a sweet monopoly. Who knows? Maybe the landlords really can't sell cheaper and this is due to the bad economy. History however seems to show otherwise.

This is a situation where I'm tempted to say "government intervention", but I'm sure there will be some arguments to this. My idea is that the city government buys the property at this price that Fane is asking and then sells it to parties interested in starting a business in that area of Collegetown. As prime real estate, I would expect some buyer to come around and purchase the properties on the condition that they do not charge a above a certain price to tenants for a set period of time. So, basically, a price ceiling.
Keep in mind, that from the economists' point of view, Mr. Fane isn't a rational human being since he will not make use of the opportunity and gain some form of revenue.
What ridiculous price will Fane ask? He's some slumlord real-estate developer, he'll just ask a shitload and if Ithaca doesn't agree he won't sell. He doesn't give a shit and he doesn't care about the greater good either.
A price ceiling will be great. But correctly pointed out that Fane is poppycocking retarded. If he were acting rationaly he would notice that he got no offers and lower the price to fit the market. You can't just keep an artificially high price and expect to make money. What a poppycocking dick.

The whole avramis family poppycocking sucks. I seriously doubt all of their properties would pass a fire inspection. But, like the rest of the ctown slumlord mafia they know they can get get away with it bc theres bound to be a cornellian willing to pay a premium price for the location.

It's like if a professor says "if nobody shows up for the test, everyone will get an A" there's always that one asian poppycocker who shows up to ruin it for everyone else.
Another good idea would be if Cornellians got together and refused to pay security deposits and bind themselves to leases 9 months in advance, giving us time to actually figure out roommates and find good housing deals. This trend of everyone jumping into housing contracts like lemmings off a cliff the first six weeks of classes is utterly ridiculous and unnecessarily stressful.
Unfortunately, there'll always be those who are completely willing to sign early, and if enough people do that the fear of having good properties slip away almost always sets people into a panic, and you're back at square one.
Oh and for the record for those finding housing this year… never rent from West Shore. They're low rents might be enticing, but be prepared to get what you paid for… oh and losing your entire security deposit too.
Yeah I lived in a realllllly shitty Fane owned apartment last semester. That shit could easily be condemned - mostly because of an infestation of pigeons in the alleyway our apartment overlooked. They roosted in our windowsills and shit. blech. The plumbing was horrendous too. And yeah seriously POPPYCOCK this guy for letting that huge property stay vacant so long. It makes collegetown seem so poppycocking run down.
